Workplace Communication

May 28 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Often the major cause of workplace disfunction or poor performance is related to workplace communication.

Leaders now make assumptions that people already know what they need to know and have stopped communicating the right content in an effect way.

The reality is that if the leaders do not share the big picture with all of their people, then their people will fill the void with rumour and negative social media content.

In this module we discuss why communication approaches of the past have failed and what we need to do differently to reinvigorate the passion we want our people to have in their roles.

All of our people want to feel engaged and the best way to do this is trough effective communication.

Prompting questions:

  1. Why does communication fail?
  2. Why do we fear communicating with our people?
  3. What do our people want to know and need to know?
  4. What communication approach works best and why?
  5. When people talk, listen completely.
  6. Written – 7%, Vocal – 38%, Verbal – 55%
  7. Tell them what good looks like, show them what good looks like, let them show you good, then delegate
  8. 2 ears, 1 mouth
  9. Ask with the intent to listen
  10. Simon Sinek – learn to speak last
