For many years we have focused our energy on the traditional classroom only learning experience, and yes, for many years this did work. But times and people have changed and the old ways may not always work.
Younger generations of learners are wanting a blended form of learning that incorporates classroom, coaching, on-job and also team or experiential learning activities to create the full learning experience for them.
For the past 14 years, RdL has continued to modify the way it delivers training excellence and the blended model has significantly improved results in most areas of development.
If our people can recall an experience then they are more likely to recall the learning from that experience, thus creating a longevity in the lesson.
My example of this was when I studied my Law degree and the lecturer asked me a simple question, “If I go into a supermarket and ask for some ham to be sliced, have I entered into a contract for that ham?” To this day I still recall this comment and it was the experience that helped me keep it fresh in my mind.
Whether we are engaging external providers or we are doing training internally, unless we refresh the way we have traditionally done our training we will not maximise our training investment and may miss opportunity and growth, not only for the individual but for company revenue and profits.
