There has always been this misunderstanding that managing and leading are the same – this is just not the fact.
Managers are appointed to a role and generally are responsible for the delivery of results using all available resources. They are task driven and usually have a solid technical knowledge of the role or department they are managing.
Leaders on the other hand are individuals who take full self responsibility and drive for growth and people development that leads to operation or personal success.
Leaders do not go out with a specific focus to make a change, they just have an underwritten logic that means all that they do is for the betterment of themselves or others, there is no selfish acts as a leader.
True leaders spend 70% of their day watching out, talking, coaching and developing others so that the individuals may gain, this in turn means the leader will gain.
Leaders can be in any position and of any age and as soon as we all put our best foot forward and make the conscience decision to be leaders, our lives will be much happier places.
